Cutting

By varying the power and pulsing of the laser beam, elements of your design can be cut, scored, or perforated.

Engraving

Any raster image (jpg, png etc) will be engraved. The laser beam sweeps back and forth, similar to an inkjet printer, to engrave images. Any grayscale or color images will be dithered. If you are particular about how the dithering is done we recommend submitting your image pre-dithered. Engraving is quite slow, so if you are cost-conscious you should minimize raster elements in your design.

We'll help

Some art preparation is included in your job fee. The laser is picky about what colors are used to mean different things (scoring, cutting, etc). Don't worry about that; we'll take care of it. When you're preparing your art, just note which parts should do what. We'll also take care of laying out your job to maximize paper use.

Candyspotting also provide a range of art services including converting your art to vectors and adding bridges to make the piece stay together. If you're not sure about something, just ask.

Pricing

We want your job to be affordable. The cost per minute of laser time varies with the total time of your order. If you intend to wholesale your item and the cost makes it unobtainable, let's chat.

Labor-intensive jobs, such as double-sided etching or small pieces, may require an additional charge.

• Cash is only accepted in person and must be exact
• Opening order minimum of $50
• Jobs under $100 must be pre-paid
• Jobs over $100 require a 50% deposit
  
  

Shipping

Orders are shipped via USPS or UPS ground. Additional shipping options can be arranged by request. We are also happy to see you at our Portland studio for an in-person pickup.
